Beginner-Intermediate Pottery Wheel – MUST BE REGISTERED FOR PART 1

May 17 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm PDT

This 2-week ceramics course is for those both new to the potter’s wheel, as well as those seeking to advance their skills with more complex techniques.
Beginning potter’s wheel will focus on basic skills like centering clay, pulling the clay walls up evenly, making simple forms (cylinders, cups, bowls) and trimming excess clay to ready them for use. Beginning students can expect to complete several small (cereal-size) bowls or a mug or two. The more time you spend in beginner’s wheel, the faster you will develop your skills and control.

Intermediate potter’s wheel will expand on your knowledge to shape the clay into more complex cylindrical forms, mugs with handles and lidded jars. Students can expect to complete large bowls, plates, vases, and jars, depending on the type of vessels you’re interested in creating. It will also teach skills like pulling walls thinner for aesthetics, pulling handles for mugs, larger flared bowls, and jars with fitted lids.
